2008 - 2009 Calendar

The Chchsoar support crew have produced the calendar for the entire season. This year we have reduced the 60" and f3f to 4 rounds each, the thermal events mentioned are based on 2m but allows for bigger gliders. During the year some special events may be added, we’ll keep you posted. The event calendar in the top corner of the site has now been completely updated, However you can see the calendar in it’s entirety click on read more below.

Class F, Slope Distance, this Sunday July 27th.

*****This event will now be on the 27th, due to lack of wind last Sunday*****

Way back in 2004 our own Jonathan Wilson broke the New Zealand record for “Class F, Slope Distance” This record still stands. This weekend is your chance to challenge that record. Have you go what it takes to crack the 2275 point mark.

The object is to make as many passes up and down the slope between two markers placed 100 metres apart in 4 minutes (1 lap = 2 passes - 200 metres flown). Each 100 metre pass scores 25 points., Each contestant has three flights, the best two to score. So that’s over 91 100m legs in 2 rounds that you’ll have to achieve.

Its on this Sunday July the 20th, Meeting on site, at 12:30 competition start time is 1pm(so our cd can make it). You’ll receive a text around 12pm on Sunday with the comps location. Please email me your cell phone number if you haven’t already. (captain@chchsoar.org.nz )

Everybody is welcome, however only NZMAA members can claim the record.

Class f has no glider size limit .

Just Testing New Site upgrades

After a lot of playing with the back end of our site, we can now add Youtube videos.

The images are fixed now also, watch the site for some flashy new changes soon.

Indoor FLying

Hi all,

Indoor flying is this Sunday night at Pioneer Stadium from 6-8pm!

Bring anything you wish to fly indoors.

I also have a couple of easy models for people to fly if they don't have anything of their own.

Cover charge will be $10

Sunday 6th July, Pioneer Stadium, 6-8pm.

Christchurch Soar Club subs are due, NZMAA subs can be paid at the same time.

The club subs this year are as follows.

Senior      $10
Family    $15
Junior     $5

NZMAA subs this year are,

Family $62

Junior $20

Although we recommend joining NZMAA, its not compulsory.

If you wish to join NZMAA for the first time please send us an email (committee@chchsoar.org.nz ), as you’ll need to fill out a form.

What�s new for Christchurch soar in 2008?

This year we’ve reduced the committee to 3 members, These member will handle the admin work, we now have our support members, these are the members that will organize the events, and help run them. We’ll no longer have committee meetings instead we’ll have relaxed open club meeting once in a while.

On the cards this year will be the return of 2 metre, 60inch racing, f3f, Mid week combat, cross country and indoor.

The 2 metre will be starting very shortly, keep you eye on the site.

We are setting up a new text system to replace the need to meet at PMH, Please email (committee@chchsoar.org.nz) us your cell phone number and name so we can add you to the list.

Christchurch soar AGM/Prize giving Sunday 1st of June

The 2008 Christchurch Soar AGM/Prize giving is on this Sunday the 1st of June at the Cashmere Club, 88 Hunter tce at 7:30pm .

This will be an open meeting and anybody is welcome to come and join in, it is a great chance to see what we have in store for next year. We have arranged the NZMAA’s Phoenix 2 rc flight sim for the night as well as Jonathan’s flight sim.

Club subs and NZMAA(nzmaa is optional) fees are due also; it’s a good opportunity to pay directly or join the club if you haven’t already. Current club subs are $15per year, Nzmaa this year is $55.

Remember its at 7:30pm on Sunday the 1st of June that’s this Sunday coming.

Indoor Flying

That's right everyone, i finally got off my butt and booked another Indoor session for this Sunday night. I can't organise very regular indoor events due to work and other commitments, so make the most of this Sundays opportunuity.

Spread the word and let people know! Lets see a good turn out this time.
