The Christchurch soar AGM is next Saturday the 23rd of July at our usual meeting place, the Cashmere Club, 88 Hunter Tce, Start time 7pm.

It is time to make a serious decision on the direction the club will take going foward.

Please try and attend as a quorum is necassary for any decisions to be employed.

Christchurch February Earthquake

[html] Slope soaring has taken a back-seat in local flyers' priorities since the earthquake on February 22. Some have damage to their homes which they have had to attend to, while others have been helping with the relief effort. We will start flying again as things slowly return to normal. Resuming our recreational activities is part of the healing process.

Daylight saving & evening flying

Daylight saving starts this Sunday, and that marks the unofficial opening of the Canterbury flying season. Flying has been lonely and cold recently, but warmer weather is on the way, so the hills will be seeing some more activity. The extra hour of daylight in the evenings makes it feasible to get some flying in after work, and the Wednesday / Friday evening fun-fly and combat events are going to get going again. I'm developing a UAV (unmanned model aircraft) and am looking for a place to test it.

Ideally I'd like:
* a grass paddock (min 100m x 100m), preferably within 30 min drive from Chch centre (eg, Rangiora, Kaipoi)
* a shed/room with power where I can setup my laptop and work, without direct sunlight on the screen, or worry that my batteries running low
* (bonus) if I could store things there between visits I expect it'll be a few weeks of frequent visits then tapper off, so if
